Mr. Cantu graduated in the Top 10% of his class from Harlandale High School in 1991.

In 1996 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Radio- Television - Film from the University Of Texas At Austin.

In 2012 Mr Cantu successfully completed the Alternative Certification for Teachers program through ACT San Antonio and was also Certified by Region 20 on Apple Software's Final Cut X.


Mr. Cantu spent 11 years with Univision Television as a photojournalist before enrolling in ACT San Antonio and obtaining his Teacher Certification in Industry and Trades Technology in 2012.

While working as a photojournalist, Mr. Cantu has covered events as serious as train derailments/chemical spills, traveled to Cancun, and covered the San Antonio Spurs during their 2002 Championship victory against the New Jersey Nets.

During this time, Mr. Cantu also received recognition for his short film, THE SOUL COLLECTOR, taking BEST IN SHOW at the 2007 IFMASA film festival, placing in the TOP 1000 Winning Screenplays with PROJECT GREENLIGHT in 2005, TOP 25% with PAGE SCREENWRITING COMPETITION, and TOP 10% in the SCRIPT SAVVY COMPETITION.

Currently, Mr. Cantu is certified on FINAL CUT X and has experience with AVID ADRENALIZE and FINAL CUT 7 editing platforms.


Mr. Cantu was born on the Southside of San Antonio and is a graduate of Harlandale High School 1991.

A love of drawing and writing led Mr. Cantu into film production when he received his first camera from his Father, Arturo Cantu, at the age of fifteen.

Since then, fiddling around with video cameras gave way to shooting with 16MM cameras at the University of Texas at Austin, and a lifelong love of the moving image.

Mr. Cantu is a huge fan of Marvel Comics and his favorite heroes are Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and the odd DC fan favorite, Batman.
