I have been painting in oil paints since I was 5 years old-My first teacher can only be remembered as Mrs. Kovaks. As a 10 year old, I was taught to paint landscapes by Charles Lyles, a famous Texas Landscape oil painter:).

High School

I went to Lubbock High School-I was one of two students picked from each high school (in Lubbock ,Texas)to attend the Saturday Morning Art Project taught by several professors at Texas Tech University. This program provided me a scholarship to attend Texas Tech University two weeks after I graduated in 1989.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts 1993-majoring in Ceramic Sculpture and a Minor in Painting, at Texas Tech University. I became certified to teach all ages of Art in 2007 through the ACT Alternative Certification Program

I have been teaching at Harlandale for 7 years- I really enjoy it!

Prior to being a teacher, I have been in over 16 art exhibits-5 being solo exhibits. I mostly paint but I am always wanting to try any art medium possible. I hope to learn more about jewelry metal smithing by the end of the year.
