LaFosse, Randy - CTE

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Randy LaFosse

Subjects Taught

A product of the South San Antonio ISD system.  South San High School Class of 1976.

Eastern New Mexico University BBA 1980, a 3 year starter on the Lone Star Conf. football team.

I have gained many Microsoft MOUS certifications over the years, making my job teaching Microsoft Office products easier.

I worked throughout high school from maintenance to Jack in the Box, I have always had a part time job in college, work study, gas stations and package stores, so I was never a stranger to work.  When I graduated from college, I sat down and really thought about what I wanted to do, I really enjoyed athletics and they were a big part of my life, I received a business degree so it was logical to go into the business of sporting goods.  I worked 17 years in that industry and I really thought I would end up staying in business for a lifetime, but one day literally I woke up and told my wife I going to find out what it would take to become a teacher.  After a month of thinking and a visit to Texas State University CTE department I pulled the trigger and sold my shares in my company and looked for a teaching position, I applied at only two places, South San ISD and Harlandale ISD, luck would have it, I was offered a job at each place and now after 19 years at HISD I know I made the right choice.  I've never looked back.  Now I am CTE department chair and I am a fixture at HHS.  And I love it.

Mr. LaFosse has been teaching at Harlandale High School for 19 years.  He graduated from South San High School, Mr. LaFosse has been a part of the south side of San Antonio most of his life. Mr. LaFosse attended college at Eastern New Mexico University, he received a BBA in Business Administration.  After college he came back to San Antonio and begin a career in the sporting goods industry, after 17 successful years in business he felt something was missing, with educators in his family that would always tell him he missed his calling, he gained certification in Office Education and began teaching.  They were right, and the rest is history.  Mr. LaFosse is married to to a Harlandale grad, class of '77. All of his children have been a part of the HISD education system classes of '98, '00, '09, and the last,in the class of 2014.  Mr. LaFosse is a very proud member of the Harlandale Family.
