Hello My Name Is...
Child Development, Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness, Principals of Human Sevices
Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1991, Missouri Valley College
Teacher Certification - Special Education in 2008 and Family Consumer Science in 2012
have been teaching at Harlandale High School for 5 years now. I
started off in the Special Education Department as itinerant support for
freshman English. I enjoyed this assignment for 2 years before
switching gears and joining the Career and Technical Education
Department as one of the Family and Consumer Science teachers.
2012-2014 I taught Child Development, Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness,
and Principles of Human Services. Beginning the 2014-2015 school year, I
took on a new challenge teaching the Practicum in Education and
Training classes (formerly known as Ready, Set, Teach). I thoroughly
enjoy teaching these classes and helping our students reach their goal
of one day becoming a teacher.
I was born and raised in San
Antonio, Texas. I have two children - a son who is 17 and a daughter
who is 15. I attended Texas A&M University @ College Station my
freshmen year of college but was offered a full scholarship to play
softball at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. It was an
opportunity I could not turn down. I studied Accounting and graduated
with a Bachelors degree in 1991. I worked in the Accounting field for
20+ years before becoming a teacher. Teaching was a dream I had had for
years but did not take the leap to achieve that dream until I received
my certification in Special Education in 2008.
Both of my children are very involved
in various extra-curricular activities, such as, football, soccer,
theater arts, voice lessons, and track so my home life is very busy.
When we have the opportunity, we like to take vacations as a family to
places like Puerto Vallarta; Cancun; Steamboat Springs, Colorado;
Lafayette, Louisianna; and other Texas cities like Dallas, Houston,
I have lived in San Antonio and Austin
here in Texas; as well as, Missouri, Washington state and Georgia. One
day I think I would like to live in either Colorado or Tennessee. I
have visited both of these states and liked them very much.
